About Lauren
I am an energetic, empathetic former teacher. I taught 8th-10th grade math in Denver Public Schools for two years, in addition to completing two summer teaching fellowships in college. Though I hated math as a student and my undergraduate degree is in international studies, I am a total convert now! The fun part of math exists, you've just gotta find what works for you. I have also coached multiple successful high school debaters, tutored in civics, and provided small group math intervention, working directly with students and families to meet specific educational goals. I just graduated with honors with my JD from ASU, so I know what it's like to be on the study grind. I'm here to help students succeed!

I am qualified to teach elementary math through precalculus. I frame math as a set of puzzles and focus on not just getting students to the right answer, but making sure students understand the processes behind the math they're doing and growing mathematical thinking skills. A typical lesson includes a review of a foundational concept, a quick lesson on the target skill, lots of practice, and finally, math games and puzzles.
