About Rhodri

I’m Rhodri Lewis, an Outstanding teacher since 2010, with nearly two decades of experience helping students achieve beyond expectations. Having worked as Head of English and Assistant Principal in both state and independent schools, and lectured on the University of Buckingham’s PGCE course, I bring proven expertise in teaching and raising achievement.

Why choose me? Because your child deserves more than just extra lessons. As an experienced Head of English, I know how to make GCSE English Language and Literature understandable, engaging and manageable. I combine expert subject knowledge with proven teaching strategies to help students understand what examiners are looking for, strengthen their exam technique and build the confidence to achieve higher grades.

I believe teenagers achieve their best when they feel supported, valued and enjoy learning. My lessons provide a positive, encouraging environment where students can ask questions, overcome difficulties and make genuine progress.

My goal is simple: to help your child feel more confident, enjoy English and achieve the GCSE results they are capable of.

About the lesson

I am a fully qualified teacher with nearly 20 years' experience of teaching GCSE English. I have helped pupils get across the line to gain that all-important grade 4 or maximise their potential in order to achieve Grade 9 and everything in between.

A lesson lasts 50 minutes and covers textual analysis, vocabulary development, quotation identification & analysis, exam skills and subject-specific vocabulary.

I teach following Rosenshine's Learning Principles and Bloom's Taxonomy to develop metacognition. What this means is through understanding of texts, themes, context and analysis skills.
