About Frank
I am a former actor who decided he liked writing more than auditioning. I got my BA in Integrative Studies from Arizona State University and my MA in Creative Writing (with a teaching certification in English Composition) from San Francisco State University. I taught at Berkeley City College and California College of the Arts. I've published fiction and non-fiction, completed my first novel, and am working on my second.

I taught at the college level for five years, and my students were diverse, so I had to find flexible approaches to teaching the material. If one approach doesn't work, I'll keep trying until we find one that does. I understand what it's like to struggle with a subject (for me, math), and I've had some excellent teachers to help guide me through. I will always do the same.
I try to find real world examples to illustrate any lesson we may be working on so you can see the practical applications of them. If you're working on an essay, for example, we'll break it down into small parts so it doesn't feel overwhelming. A typical lesson plan when studying rhetoric, say, might include looking at memes and examining how the images and text work together to create a persuasive argument.
I have taught at the college level, but my lessons are also applicable to high school students as well.
