About Theodore

I am a recent graduate from Boston College and I spent my spring semester of my junior year studying at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. I have completed the highest language classes at both Boston College and Pompeu Fabra University, getting an A in both. The class at Pompeu Fabra University is considered to be at the C2 level of proficiency, marking fluency within the language. I also received a 5 on both the Spanish Language and Literature AP exams in high school, which is the highest score possible. At Boston College I was employed by the school to tutor students in Spanish. In the summer of 2022 I worked for the International Institute of New England, where I often worked with Spanish speakers to help teach them english.

About the lesson

I have a tutored a wide range of language skills in the past, including those who have never studied Spanish (or English) and those who have for years. I typically start with basic grammar before moving on to vocabulary, of which I typically create quizlets for the student to go over to memorize on their own time. I also recommend music, tv shows and movies to strengthen immersion within the language. I also include writing practice.

I met Theo three years ago in college and in that time I've known him to be a passionate, hardworking student. As a freshman, his Spanish was already near-perfect but he continued to pursue classes in Spanish literature and a semester abroad in Barcelona. These endeavors demonstrate his commitment to and love for the language.

As a tutor in previous roles, Theo has been known to remain fully committed to his students and is able to personalize his lessons; if you're struggling with something, he can identify what that is and explain it in a new way. He is so passionate about the language that it is infectious - he will make learning something to look forward to.
