About Janice

I am a bright, friendly, approachable First Year University Student who is eager to share the Chinese culture with those who are interested in it. I hope that you can be a little more confident in Speaking, Reading or Writing Mandarin, or even just mastering the basics! I speak fluent Mandarin, English and Malay, and I am in my early 20's. I am open-minded and non-judgmental, as I believe that each and every one of us deserves the equal opportunity to gain access to learning a different language and culture. As your tutor, I would love to bring the best out of you and be your support as much as I can. I aim to provide the most support by giving you a prompt reply as soon as I can. Feel free to text me - either about the learning content or even just life - and we can be friends too.

About the lesson

A lesson usually lasts 30 to 45 minutes, or it can be tailored to suit your personal needs. Recommended duration for a child is 30 minutes due to their shorter attention span. Reading Techniques: - Short pre-reading session (for learners with basic knowledge) - Complimentary Pinyin support for all texts - Guided Question-and-Answer session for comprehension - Summary of text Speaking Techniques: - Guided word-by-word enunciation of words/sentences/paragraphs - Repetition of words/sentences/paragraphs - Loud reading of words/sentences/paragraphs of learner (Materials used are from Mandarin Bean/HSK Reading. Any materials from outside, e.g. school, work, university, can be brought in to discuss during the lesson as well!)
