About Shane

Hi! I’m Shane, an Irish tutor who grew up and studied in Brussels, where I became fluent in French. Having learned French through full immersion, I know the challenges learners face and how to make the process enjoyable. My lessons are professional yet relaxed, with plenty of encouragement and a bit of fun along the way. I love creating a supportive space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and building confidence step by step. Whether you’re studying for exams, preparing for work, or just want to chat in French over coffee, I’ll adapt my lessons to you. Personable, reliable, and passionate about languages, I aim to make learning French something you look forward to!

About the lesson

I take a friendly, structured approach to tutoring that adapts to each student’s needs and goals. My lessons usually combine conversation practice, grammar explanations, and practical exercises so students can both understand the rules and use them with confidence. I like to make sessions interactive, using real-life examples and cultural references to bring French to life.

A typical lesson lasts one hour, but I can adjust depending on the student’s schedule and learning preferences. Shorter sessions are great for focused practice (e.g. conversation), while longer sessions allow for a mix of grammar, vocabulary, and speaking.

I grew up in Brussels from the age of 6, completing my schooling there, which gave me native-level fluency in French alongside my Irish background. This unique experience allows me to understand both the challenges of learning French as a second language and the natural flow of how it’s spoken in daily life.

My lessons are suitable for all levels and ages — from school students preparing for exams, to adults wanting to improve their fluency, business communication, or simply learn French for travel and culture.
