Methodology: conceptual mathematics
-use fundamental concepts to help students develop a flexible number sense
-reason with many different types of problems at varying levels of complexity
-use visuals to aid students in building a long-lasting and flexible number sense that can support reasoning in higher grade levels
-introduce multiple strategies for solving the same problem
-promote autonomy with utilizing the strategy and thinking method that works best for the individual
-help students apply simple concepts to different contexts in order to solve variety of problems
