About Nicole
I’ve always had a real passion for maths and genuinely enjoy working through problems and understanding how things fit together. I find it rewarding to help others understand topics they previously found difficult, and seeing students grow in confidence is a big part of why I enjoy teaching. I want to tutor because I know maths can feel intimidating, and I enjoy making it feel more approachable and manageable for students.

Teaching style & methods
My lessons are tailored to each student’s ability and goals, whether they are studying Foundation or Higher GCSE Maths. I focus on building strong core understanding first, then applying this to exam-style questions so students feel confident in assessments. I explain concepts clearly, break down tricky topics into simple steps, and use worked examples and practice questions throughout each session. I’m patient, encouraging, and happy to go over topics as many times as needed until everything clicks.
Lesson length
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, which works well for maintaining focus while covering content in depth. Longer sessions (90 minutes) are available if preferred, especially closer to exams.
Qualifications & experience
I hold a First-Class degree in Maths with Finance from the University of Exeter. I previously tutored Foundation GCSE Maths while studying at secondary school.
Who the lessons are for
My lessons are suitable for GCSE students of all abilities, including both Foundation and Higher tiers. I work well with students who feel anxious about maths as well as those aiming for top grades and wanting to push into higher bands. Sessions are appropriate for secondary school students (typically ages 13–16), and can be adapted for different learning styles and paces.
