About Quentin

As an aspiring teacher, I have always had a passion for teaching. This is because I love the subjects which I teach, especially talking about them. Through this I not only share the expertise I have, but also always learn something new from my pupils. As a tutor, I am always therefore passionate about bringing everything I have to the table and help my pupils as much as I can, and hope to learn something from the process for myself too!

I also enjoy the rewarding aspect of tutoring, and have volunteered many times in teaching roles in the primary school I used to attend, as well as with the Whitgift Masterclasses program. I truly believe that with the right mindset and help, anyone can succeed academically - it is much more a matter of hard work than natural talent.

I have now accumulated 2 years of tutoring experience across a wide range of subjects, and would love to continue adding to this experience alongside my studies at UCL!

My qualifications are as follows:

- Predicted First Class Degree in English Language and Literature at University College London (UCL).
- 43 points in International Baccalaureate (IB) with 4 HL subjects. 7776 HL in Maths AA, History, Philosophy, and English Literature. 76 in SL Physics and Mandarin Chinese. A in Extended Essay in English Literature.
- Finalist in NCH Essay Competition in English Literature
- GCSE: Grade 9's in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Religious Studies, Mandarin Chinese, and French.
- A in OCR FMSQ Additional Mathematics
- Passed DELF C1 Qualification in French.

My lessons will focus on the skills in philosophy that are not only what will get you the highest marks in your philosophy or Religious Studies exams at any level, but are what studying philosophy is truly about: analysis, evaluation and solid argumentation. This is aided by covering detailed, high level content that is just as necessary.

I achieved a grade 9 in iGCSE Religious Studies and a grade 7 in IB HL Philosophy. I am currently studying English Literature, a subject closely related to philosophy, at University College London (UCL).

I can teach at any level and age up to A-Level or IB HL standard.

I have experience teaching Philosophy or Religious Studies at GCSE level for almost 2 years, and have general tutoring experience in other subjects. My Religious Studies pupil has recently achieved a grade 8 in his mocks, a significant improvement from the level 4 standard he was at when I first started teaching him.

My lessons are typically 1h long.

I have expertise in the following topics:

- Philosophy of Religion (The attributes and existence of God(s), Religious Language, Religion in society, and Religious experience)
- Political Philosophy (Political Obligation and the State, Democracy, Justice, Human rights)
- Descartes's philosophy, especially the 'Meditations on First Philosophy'.
- Aesthetics
- Epistemology
- GCSE-level Christianity
