About Bethan
I am an Oxford English graduate with extensive tutoring experience; I teach from Year 8 to postgraduate level. I find tutoring GCSE students to be particularly rewarding, though, because many students are far more analytical than they think they are.
1-1 tutoring is great in that regard; it is a supportive environment where students become comfortable expressing ideas without the pressure of the traditional classroom.
I enjoy bringing out my students' enthusiasm for the subject and seeing their confidence grow.
I hold an enhanced DBS check.

English can be daunting; sometimes it feels like there is a grand meaning that you always seem to miss! But, at the heart of English literature is the text itself, so I work with students from the words on the page. We begin with close textual analysis, looking at how meaning is created through language.
Once a strong foundation has been laid, we work through exam-style questions and plan essays together.
Lessons tend to be 1.5 hours to allow us time to really get stuck into a text.
