About Aurora

Hi! My name is Aurora and I am a postgraduate student at the University of Manchester, studying a Master's in Development Economics. I am originally from Italy, but I moved to the UK when I was 16 and sat both my GCSEs and A Levels in London. In my GCSEs I achieved 8 A* and 4 A grades. These were the second-highest results in my cohort, despite the fact I had only been living in England for two years before sitting my exams. At sixth form, I taught myself French A Level in just one year and achieved an A grade, the highest grade in my class. I have always found learning languages an extremely rewarding, albeit sometimes frustrating process. Although languages open up doors to new ways of thinking and seeing the world around you, grasping the different aspects of a language, such as its grammar, can be demoralising. And that’s what I am here for - as a fellow language learner, I can empathise with the difficulties of this process and will do my best to make it as smooth and fun as possible. Furthermore, as a foreigner who has been through the UK education system, I am able to advise those in similar positions and facing similar challenges.

About the lesson

Students learn in different ways, so I will adapt our lessons depending on your preferred learning style. During the introductory lesson, I will ask you questions in order to determine how you study, and your responses will shape the way I plan our future sessions. I will also be interested to know the topics you are struggling the most with, in order to give me a clearer idea of the areas I should focus on. PLEASE NOTE: I ONLY PROVIDE ONLINE LESSONS.

Perfect! Aurora took the time to understand my reasons for wanting to learn Italian and how I learn. She had a clear plan for how to go about this but adapted it as we went along and was very patient in answering my questions giving me the time go through the pronunciation of the Italian words at my pace. It was good to recap the learning at the end and Aurora promptly sent through the follow up materials after the call. I was a bit nervous beforehand but really enjoyed the session and certainly intend to continue the Italian lessons. Thank you Aurora
