About Cassandra
Hello! I’m Cassandra. If anyone can talk (and happily yap) for hours on end, it is probably me! Fortunately, I have spent most of my life turning that talent into something useful.
I was a class emcee throughout primary school and continued hosting events during secondary school. That little love for speaking eventually brought me into radio broadcasting, podcasting and hosting TEDxYouth. It also helped me become a negotiation competition champion, competition judge and, eventually, a First-Class Law graduate from the University of Bristol.
Of course, communicating is not only about talking! My background in Mass Communication and legal experience at three of Singapore’s Big Four law firms taught me how to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and explain unfamiliar ideas clearly. My own journey from a Mass Communication diploma to a First-Class law degree also showed me that there is no single “correct” path to success. Sometimes, a child simply needs someone who recognizes their individual spark and encourages it.
Through at-home phonics and literacy lessons, I hope to help your child enjoy words, stories and self-expression. Beyond reading confidently, I want them to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and trying again. I hope to become a trusted mentor and positive role model who celebrates every small victory and reminds your child that they are capable of achieving more than they may realize.
Beneath all the fun and chatter, I take my responsibilities seriously. Parents can expect me to be warm, patient, prepared, punctual and respectful of their home, with open communication throughout their child’s learning journey.
When I am not teaching your adorable little ones, I am probably starting my day with a matcha, heading to Pilates or Afro dance, or practicing Wing Chun after being thoroughly inspired by the Ip Man movies! Otherwise, I am busy being a dog mom to Nori, my seven-month-old Standard Schnauzer, named after seaweed because of her jet-black coat.

My approach is tailored, warm and nurturing. I believe that children learn best when they feel safe, understood and genuinely supported. I therefore prioritize building a trusting rapport with each child, allowing me to become not only their tutor but also an encouraging mentor and positive presence throughout their educational journey. Above all, I hope to help children associate learning with curiosity, confidence and enjoyment.
I begin by understanding each child’s current reading level, interests and confidence before adapting the lesson accordingly. Classes combine age-appropriate phonics, letter-sound recognition, blending, reading aloud, picture prompts, vocabulary games and simple comprehension activities. I use repetition, positive reinforcement and interactive exercises to keep children engaged while gradually building independence.
A typical lesson lasts approximately 45-60 minutes, which is generally suitable for a preschool child’s attention span. Lessons may be extended for older children or where appropriate and can be adjusted according to the child’s age, learning needs and ability to concentrate.
I hold a First-Class Honors Law degree from the University of Bristol and a Diploma in Mass Communication from Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I have over 2 years of cumulative legal experience, including experience at three of Singapore’s Big Four law firms. My background in legal research, public speaking, radio broadcasting, podcasting and hosting TEDxYouth has trained me to communicate clearly, listen attentively and explain information in an engaging and accessible manner.
My lessons are intended primarily for preschool children aged four to six, including K1 and K2 pupils, early readers and children preparing for Primary One. Beyond teaching literacy, I hope to be a trusted mentor and positive role model who helps each child become more curious, expressive, confident and motivated to learn.
