About Aaliyah

I have been working in the Media industry for around 5 years with a First-Class Honours degree in Media Production and also studied Production Management at one of the UK's top film school, the National Film and Television School. I also studied Media Studies at A-level.

I have worked as a tutor informally during my time at university, supporting Level 4 and 5 students by doing workshops and presentations. I also regularly tutor students at the National Film and Television School, running workshops and training sessions.

During my time at university, I freelanced as a Photographer, Camera Operator and Visual Editor. I also took on many opportunities to work for some amazing clients such as the BBC, Warner Bros, Showcase Cinemas and worked as an OB Camera Operator at Glastonbury 2019. I came out of university with a very wide skill-set which gave me an expertise in many different roles in the Media.

I went on to work as a Production Co-ordinator in TV (Sports) whilst working as a Production Manager/Producer in Short Film! My previous projects have won RTS awards and I was part of BFI South East’s Emerging Producers 2023 cohort. My most recent work has been Line Producing a Short Film for BBC Film.

Last year, I completed a mentorship program with Creative Mentor Network, where I was mentored by a Bafta Award-winning screenwriter to write a script and I am also a member of BAFTA Connect.

I too went through a Media A-level, a Media degree and a post-graduate diploma in this field so I can definitely relate to your learning!

About the lesson

As I am a recent graduate I can offer support to A-level Media Studies students in their course. I can offer support to undergrad students depending on their course speciality, however can offer mentorship for anyone looking to get a job in the Media industry.

My tuition style is very personalised, setting out clear goals and objectives. The structure of sessions depends on the content that needs to be covered and the type of support a student needs but usually are done in 1 hour sessions.
The type of sessions can vary from support with essay writing and applying media theory as well as support in developing a media artefact and the production paperwork alongside it. I currently only offer lessons on Zoom.

As a tutor, I am very understanding of the support students need and the type of things that make studying and learning easier (I have been in your shoes!) so I apply my own experiences to the role. I always try to make my teaching as clear and easy to digest. I am extremely passionate about seeing young people learning and working in the media and will offer my support in this in any way I can. I can offer the many resources and contacts I have made over the years to students and help them achieve their goals in the same way I have!

Private tuition cancellations by you

I urge you to carefully check your diary to ensure that you are available to attend any private tuition you are booking. Sessions are refundable if cancelled with notice at least 48 hours before session. Any later than that then a cancellation fee of 50% will apply.

In the unlikely event that I have to cancel your private tuition, you will be given as much notice as possible and offered a different date or a full refund.
