About Layla
I am a graduate from the University of Oxford holding a First-Class degree in Human Sciences. As part of this interdisciplinary course, I have gained insight into how young people learn in educational contexts. In particular, I studied a module on the psychology of education and continue to implement what I have learnt into my lessons. In the coming year, I am continuing my studies and completing an MSc in the Psychology of Education at University College London. I hope to further expand my understanding of learning and how we can overcome the challenges that some young people face in the classroom. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone deserves to, and can, enjoy education and I hope to help this become a reality.

Having tutored for four years, I have worked with over 20 students of all ability levels, including those with Special Educational Needs. I am well-practised at tailoring my explanations to the individual student and finding which teaching methods help the content to stick. No one-size-fits-all approaches here! I typically run 60-minute sessions online over Zoom or MS Teams. I also set weekly homework if that is something the student/guardian feels is beneficial. The bulk of my teaching experience covers Mathematics, Science and English at Key-Stage Three and GCSE level. I have also worked as a university admissions tutor, offering assistance with Oxbridge applications and interviews.
