About Tom
I believe that the teaching process should be one of cooperation. There is no student in the world who doesn't have something to teach me, a new perspective to inhabit, a wholly unique experience of the world. I am grateful to teach literature, a subject of endless reinterpretation, a fluid and ever changing medium, whereby the student and I can learn more about ourselves, and articulate those learnings on the page.

As a recent graduate in English literature, I propose to re-learn and re-experience core texts alongside my students, nurturing a passionate dialogue about the work before we turn to the requirements of the syllabus. Interest will always foster performance, and I will ensure some personal engagement with the work—whether Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, or R.C. Sheriff—before applying a rigorous process (a 'Golden Rules' philosophy) to shape these ideas into high-scoring academic pieces.
