About Joshua
I sustained great pleasure from tutoring an economics student at Nottingham University, observing her grasp concepts she previously struggled with. This experience reinforced my aspiration to follow a career in education, highlighting to me that I am passionate about teaching and have the necessary skills. This taught me a great deal, and I developed a variety of skills, including; the effectiveness and importance of lesson preparation and how to efficiently structure lessons, to maximise the time available.
During my school work experience at Salvatorian College, I was intrigued by the classrooms’ dynamic, and how teachers adapted their approach depending on the student’s age and ability. It was clear that this versatility worked and I was also impressed with the usage of practical examples to explain theoretical concepts and the monitoring of progression through practicing exam-style questions. These are examples of teaching techniques I would also implement, as a teacher. My military like organisational skills, which were crucial to my academic success, would also be highly beneficial and my ability ‘wear my intellect’ lightly to communicate complex topics in a simple way. First, developed in my A-Level extended project qualification, where I communicated technical economic analysis to a non-technical audience, and enhanced during a university module communication and presentation skills.

Having completed my undergraduate economics degree in 2016, achieving a first-class honours. I have since had experience of tutoring both A-level economics and undergraduate level economics. Due to my passion for economics and my desire to maintain and share my economic knowlege I am currently in the process of applying to train to teach in a related subject (either economics itself, business, or maths). I am a patient and enthusitic tutor, who will do my upmost preparation to ensure an efficient, productive lesson. I can go through entire topics or better still specific questions, especially exam styled ones.
