About Maaz
Hi, I'm Maaz! I hold a BSc in Computer Science with First Class Honours, and I work as a Data Engineer.
My background combines computer science, programming and practical data engineering. I enjoy breaking down technical concepts and making them easier to understand, especially for students who are new to coding or feel stuck trying to learn independently.
Whether you're aiming to improve your grades, strengthen your programming foundations or develop practical coding skills for your future career, I'm here to help you get there. I want you to become an independent problem-solver, not someone who relies on copying code.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around a simple principle: you learn programming by writing and understanding real code.
Depending on your needs, lessons can cover:
- Python programming: Variables, conditions, loops, functions, lists, dictionaries, object-oriented programming and debugging.
- SQL and databases: Writing queries, filtering data, joins, aggregation, subqueries, CTEs, window functions and database fundamentals.
- Programming fundamentals: Computational thinking, problem-solving, introductory data structures and understanding how programs work.
- University and coursework support: Understanding lecture concepts, practising technical questions and debugging your own solutions.
- Practical projects: Small Python applications, data-cleaning exercises and introductory data workflows.
We begin by identifying your current level, learning goals and areas of difficulty. I'll then explain the relevant concepts, walk through examples with you, and give you opportunities to apply what you've learned through coding exercises and practical tasks.
You do not need prior experience to begin. If you're already comfortable with the basics, we can move on to more challenging problems and projects at your pace.
My goal is for every lesson to leave you with a clearer understanding of the topic, more confidence writing code independently, and a concrete idea of what to practise next.
Your first lesson is an opportunity to discuss your goals, assess your current level and work through a small coding exercise together. We'll use this to establish a practical learning plan suited to you.
