About Daniel
Full-time private tutor for several years now with over 5,000 hours private tutoring specifically for A-level Maths and Physics, Oxbridge admissions and GMAT.
Also work with "The Profs" as an Oxbridge admissions consultant within their Oxbridge Consultancy division, and hold mock interview preparation courses within schools.
My best results from the last academic year (2020-21):
Oxbridge admissions: 9 out of 10 students were successfully invited to interview, of which 6 were given an offer and all 6 made their offer.
This year (2021) I am extremely proud to have had a 100% success rate (5/5) for my STEP students in achieving their offers (the average acceptance rate for a STEP offer holder to Cambridge is under 50%).
Pradeep - From a C in A-level Maths to an A* in his resit year (Now studying Economics at UCL - for which I am teaching him the maths content of his course)
Victor - From D/B in A-level Physics and Maths to A A* in his resit year (Now studying Economics and Finance at Bristol - for which I am also teaching him the maths content of his course)
My key to Oxbridge admissions:
When I first started preparing for STEP, the papers crushed me __ I was not able to solve the questions. Through sheer stubbornness and hard work, I spent likely over a thousand hours on coming up with methods for STEP (and hence other Oxbridge admissions tests) to make the questions easier. This worked; I ended up scoring S (outstanding) on both STEP II and III and achieving the 98th percentile.
I now pass the lessons I learnt from that experience on to my students; my extensive preparation for and teaching of STEP, which is based on the Maths and Further Maths A-level syllabuses, means I have now spent thousands of hours on coming up with methods to make difficult questions on A-level material as easy and predictable as possible. I feel that these methods are a large part of what distinguishes me from other tutors. They were born out of a need to make seemingly impossible questions on A-level material seem easy, which mirrors exactly the challenge that many students feel they are facing with A-level Maths and Physics or Oxbridge admissions tests. My methods saw me through my degree too; I was able to achieve a first in every year simply by teaching myself in the same way I now teach my students.
In general I find helping people in a way that can impact their life for the better, long term, extremely rewarding and fun, and so I very much enjoy my work as a tutor. My enjoyment is tied to the impact I have, so I am always looking for new things to implement and new offerings to improve my impact.

Hi there, if you are looking for Oxbridge admissions tuition or A-level tuition, you won’t find a better, more committed tutor anywhere else. My success rate (invitation to interview) for Oxbridge Admissions tests in 2020/21 was in excess of 90%, I have personally taken students from a D at A-level Maths up to an A* and this year (2021) I am extremely proud to have had a 100% success rate (5/5) for my STEP students in achieving their offers (the average acceptance rate for a STEP offer holder to Cambridge is

Perfect! Brilliant GMAT tutor
Whilst Daniel’s academic achievements speak for themselves, the most important reason why Daniel is a brilliant tutor is his ability to observe a student’s weaknesses and create a strategy to overcome them. In my experience, I struggled with certain aspects of algebra within the GMAT however Daniel came up with a more visual solution to approaching questions via graph plotting. Furthermore, he has also created a wealth of helpful video clips and materials to support students outside of tuition sessions. He is also always available to answer questions. Personally, I have gone from having little confidence in my abilities to being almost certain I will attain a GMAT score I can be proud of, all thanks to Daniel and his brilliant ability to help others. I couldn’t be happier with my experience and I would recommend him to anyone looking to tackle the GMAT exam.
Subject : GMAT
Outcome : 10/10Excellent! Daniel makes a great tutor. as he is not only very knowledgeable about his subjects, but also has good ideas for how to help the student with how to learn the information. He covered both topic knowledge as well as exam/learning techniques. From the outset he made a difference to how my son felt about his A level subjects giving more confidence to tackle things that before he had felt were out of his reach.

My son has been seeing Daniel since last year, prior to his Cambridge Mathematics interviews. From the start my son was very impressed with his ability & teaching style, and my son found his advice invaluable in preparing for and undertaking the interviews. He was very knowledgeable about the process and went into detail on how to best collaborate with the interviewers in order to solve questions and what exactly they are looking for. He also helped to guide him through a wide range of mock interview questions and showed a variety of tips and tricks he had picked up over his years of experience with such questions. My son detailed that the first week working with Daniel was his sharpest learning curve to date, and that Daniel was very clear throughout that he felt certain my son was a strong candidate who had the capability to succeed, which helped to develop the confidence needed for the process.
My son was subsequently successful at interview, a result he was thrilled with, and received an offer to study Mathematics, contingent on attaining the required grades in two exams at the end of June, called STEP. Since receiving the offer, my son has been working extremely hard towards these exams, which are notoriously exceptionally difficult. Throughout this, Daniel has been working with my son to guide him through the process, emphasising the thought process required to tackle questions and how to come up with solutions, rather than simply showing solutions. Trying to find someone to assist with STEP is difficult, as the questions are of a difficulty level that many teachers and tutors are simply not prepared for. However, Daniel’s ability to solve questions is extremely impressive and clearly quite rare; there are few people that are able to comfortably tackle STEP questions, and even fewer that are able to pass on the knowledge to a tutee. There are no areas of weakness my son has seen so far, and every question he has been asked he has been able to answer with confidence and can further explain the concept and how to apply it.
As Daniel has himself been through the Cambridge admissions process relatively recently, and also placed a lot of pressure on himself at the time, he has very much been able to relate to the stress that my son is going through, and has made a point to explain just how difficult he found it at the time. He has emphasised that my son has the ability, and the only difference is experience, which has helped to reassure him against the backdrop of such difficult exams. My son and I feel he genuinely cares about the success of any tutee and that he lives part of the admissions process with them.
Early on, my son remarked that Daniel was very different to what he had pictured a Maths tutor to be; he has found him easy to talk to, charismatic and found they had a shared interest in high level sporting pursuits. This was great as Alex himself is a high-level sportsman, meaning he could relate to and give advice regarding how to best juggle studies and academics, without compromising either or risking burnout.
Daniel is always approachable and flexible and never gives off the impression that you don’t have 100% of his attention. Finally, my son would like to say that his love of maths really shines through, he enjoys teaching others and tries to inspire them to be the best they possibly can.Daniel is an excellent tutor, who has an unparalleled knowledge of the subject. He helped my son gain confidence and was instrumental with his success in these summers exams. I highly recommend him.
Dr ButtarDaniel taught me Physics and Maths A-level. He's a great tutor who is very fun and friendly & clearly enjoys tutoring. I have benefited so much from his teaching and would definitely recommend him! Absolutely brought my grades up in both subjects and gave me a lot more confidence going into the exams!
I can't recommend Daniel highly enough. I have had several tutors over the years but he was without a doubt the best. He has an ability to break things down in such an easy to understand way, and taught me how to approach problems which I wasn't sure how to tackle.
He clearly has a fantastic level of understanding in Maths and as a result has a load of tricks and special ways of doing the different A-level questions that made them far easier.
Definitely helped me to achieve the A i needed for university!
