About Isla
With over 6 years of experience as a Guitar tutor, I specialise in teaching Guitar to college students who want to improve their skills in a clear and enjoyable way. I believe learning guitar should be stress-free, creative, and rewarding.
My teaching style is flexible and student-centred. I adjust my lessons based on each student’s experience level and learning style. Whether a student is a beginner or has some experience, I help them build strong basics and improve step by step.
I use innovative teaching methods like structured practice sessions, real-song learning, and technique-based exercises. I focus on practical guitar skills such as chord transitions, rhythm control, finger strength, and tone quality. I also help students understand how music theory works on the guitar.
To make learning interesting, I include improvisation, backing tracks, and creative exercises. This helps students develop musical confidence and timing. I also guide students in different genres such as pop, rock, acoustic, and blues.
I believe encouragement and consistency are key to learning music. I create a friendly learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. My goal is to help students enjoy the learning process while becoming confident and skilled guitar players.

I teach Guitar with a focus on creativity, critical thinking, mentorship, and accountability. I want students to enjoy learning while developing the skills to express themselves through music. My lessons include improvisation, songwriting, and exploring various music styles to make learning fun and engaging.
Critical thinking is an important part of my teaching. I show students how to analyse songs, understand chords and scales, and solve musical challenges on their own. This method develops both their technical skill and musical intuition.
Accountability ensures progress. I help students set clear, achievable goals, maintain consistent practice, and reflect on their growth. Positive reinforcement and regular feedback help them stay motivated and confident.
In addition to Guitar, I teach music theory, basic performance skills, ear training, and composition. Each lesson is customised to suit the student’s pace, learning style, and musical interests.
My goal is to mentor students to become self-sufficient musicians who are confident, creative, and passionate about music.
