My approach to the Spanish language is simply to practice conversationally. My lessons will encompass everyday questions you ask your friends and family such as "how was your day?" and "what did you do over the weekend?"
From here, I will simply ask my students to introduce themselves and the reasons for wanting to learn Spanish, all while jotting down key ideas, likes, dislikes, and ask about everything they mention. I will always treat this as a two-way conversation so my students are exposing themselves to hearing Spanish being spoken to them.
Additional supplemental work can include watching videos and reading a few passages from books, news articles, or any topic that interests them and have follow-up conversations about those topics to understand how much of the topic was understood.
So to summarize, I will engage fully with my students and get them incredibly comfortable.
What sets me apart is that my lessons are FUN - learning a new language can induce anxiety and stress for many, so my approach is to bombard the learner with my self-depreciating humor and lots of love! :)
