About Ann
As a tenured professor in developmental education, I have over thirty-four years of professional and academic instructional experience, ranging from public to post secondary education. My passion for helping those who are the most at-risk to realize educational success has motivated me to develop mastery-based instructional materials along with instructional videos in the areas of English, math, reading, and writing. These materials have been used to award high school credits and college placement. My credentials include an advanced Developmental Education Specialist Certification from the Kellogg Institute at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, a Masters Degree in Education plus fifteen hours towards a PhD.

My philosophy is to teach grammar and writing using a practical approach so that these skills are understandable. As a result, I have developed a simple 4-step method of thinking to proofread for grammatical errors as well as to organize and develop the simple essay. Since my focus is on learning to use the skill rather than making a grade, learners from 7th through adult can study the same materials. Upon completion of the courses, learners should have the grammar and writing skills to prepare them for stronger academic performance, college placement, employment exams, as well as personal development.
