About Talha

I have been teaching chess to children since 2021 for a local chess school, where I still continue to teach. I received my National Instructor title in 2024 and started my freelancing journey as a chess coach in August 2024 on Fiverr and Upwork, where I have a couple of clients of various ages and ELO. I also currently teach at the Calgary Chess Club weekly to children of various levels. I have a peak CFC rating of 1754 and peak FIDE of 1710. My biggest chess accomplishment is winning the U1500 of the Steinitz-Menchik in 2023.

About the lesson

I typically review games played and analyze your games, including any improvements you could have made in your games. What sets me apart is that I realize that tactics decide the game at a lower level, so I ensure that you will be more tactically sharp. I also provide practical openings that give you comfortable positions that you can play for the intermediate players, without going very deep in the opening. I specialize in helping complete beginners, as well as those up to the 1500 range.

Perfect! Tahla is a great teacher. He's patient - he taught my 5yr old son who was learning chess for the first time so well.

I got my son his chess game & he was excited. He showed me some things Tahla taught him.
