About Eric
Hi! I'm a 23-year-old student who has been playing chess over 18 years and teaching for over 7. I've always loved playing chess as a kid, but never started learning seriously until I was 12. Fortunately, with supportive parents and a bit of luck, my chess improved steadily. This eventually led me to finish 3rd representing Canada in the under 18 section in the 2019 Pan-American Chess Tournament. Whether you are just starting out, or an experienced tournament player, I'd love the opportunity to help you reach your chess goals. Fun Fact: My best game is drawing Hikaru in one of his speedruns. I always love to start my lessons with a warmup blitz game, to make sure you are ready and awake! After the game and quick analysis, I begin the lesson plan for the rest of the time (usually 45-50 minutes of remaining time). Lesson content differs based on player's skill level and weaknesses, and I do focus on positional foundations and understandings of chess, especially at the intermediate level.
