About K S
I am a fashion designer, researcher, and educator whose practice is rooted in creative inquiry and critical making. I trained at Central Saint Martins in Fashion Design: Print and later completed postgraduate studies in London before earning my MFA in Fashion Design & Society at Parsons in New York, where I also taught. I am currently expanding my academic research through Meisterschüler studies in Fine Art at the Städelschule in Frankfurt, with the long-term goal of progressing toward a future PhD and a career in higher education as a professor. In the meantime, I continue to freelance, teach, and develop my own design practice between Europe and the UK. Over the past decade, I have worked across menswear, womenswear, textiles, footwear, and accessories for a range of independent designers and creative studios in London, Paris, Berlin, and New York. My work spans concept development, garment design, textile experimentation, and studio-led research, and I draw from both artisanal and contemporary approaches within fashion. This balance of hands-on making and academic rigour shapes the way I teach and mentor students. Alongside my design career, teaching has always been a central part of my practice. I have taught at Parsons and Pratt in New York and have supported many students through one-to-one tutorials, project development, and portfolio preparation for competitive Foundation, BA/BFA, and MA applications in the UK and internationally. My students range from beginners finding their creative voice to advanced fashion students needing clarity, structure, or deeper research guidance. Many have successfully progressed into leading fashion programmes, particularly in London. My approach focuses on helping students develop confidence, curiosity, and a strong sense of identity in their work. I teach with patience and clear methodology, supporting students to think through making, explore new processes, and understand how their ideas connect to wider cultural, artistic, and material references. Whether you are building a portfolio, developing a project, or looking for direction in your creative practice, I aim to offer both professional insight and thoughtful, individualised guidance.

My lessons are built around helping each student create a portfolio that reflects their unique voice while meeting the expectations of top fashion schools in London, across the UK, and internationally. As a Central Saint Martins graduate, a Parsons MFA graduate, and a former Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp student, I understand the standard, pace, and creative clarity required for competitive fashion applications. Alongside my academic background, I bring over ten years of industry experience across casting, garment design, accessory development, and footwear design—knowledge that allows me to help students create work that is both creatively ambitious and grounded in industry relevance. I guide students through the same methods used in leading design programmes, while making space for their own interests, cultural influences, and individual ways of working. I primarily teach remotely, and most sessions take place online, which allows students from anywhere in the world to receive consistent, personalised support. For those who require more hands-on guidance or intensive project development, in-person sessions can be arranged as part of a planned package and discussed in advance. Each lesson begins with a clear sense of your goals—whether you are preparing a portfolio for Foundation, BA/BFA, or MA applications, developing stronger design research, or improving illustration and visual communication—and is then tailored to build the skills you need most. My teaching draws from design research, concept development, experimental processes, and clear visual storytelling. I help students create work that feels grounded, intentional, and relevant, with references that extend beyond fashion into art, culture, identity, and contemporary issues. Sessions may involve developing design ideas, refining portfolio layouts, planning research approaches, improving drawing and collage techniques, or building a project from concept to final outcome. For students already studying fashion, I offer project support, critique, and structured feedback to deepen their practice and bring clarity to their creative decisions. I have previously taught at Parsons and Pratt in New York, which has shaped my understanding of both UK and US fashion education standards. My approach focuses on nurturing confidence, curiosity, and individuality. I want students to develop a strong sense of who they are as designers—not only to prepare them for applications, but to support the long-term growth of their creative practice.
