About Emily

I am Emily and alongside my Chemistry education, I completed advanced biological coursework at the University of California, Los Angeles with a strong focus on Molecular Biology and Cellular Biology! I have spent 8 years working with students who need help understanding biological systems rather than simply memorizing definitions from a textbook! My academic experience introduced me to laboratory-based biological investigation, genetics, microbiology, physiology, and biotechnology, giving me a broad perspective that I bring into my tutoring sessions! One of my favorite academic experiences involved working with biological data and interpreting how molecular processes can influence larger biological outcomes! That experience taught me to look for connections between microscopic events and the behavior of complete organisms! I have helped students prepare science fair presentations, organize biology research projects, understand difficult textbook chapters, and build stronger examination strategies! I especially enjoy mentoring students who are curious about medicine, environmental science, biotechnology, veterinary science, and other life-science careers! I encourage questions, discussion, and careful observation because I want students to develop the habits of a scientist, not simply become better at remembering facts!

I teach Biology as an interconnected story about living systems, helping K-12 students understand how cells, organisms, environments, and biological processes influence one another! My lessons are suitable for Junior School, Middle School, High School, and beginning College learners who need classroom support, deeper understanding, or structured examination preparation! I create a personalized study pathway based on the student's grade level, curriculum, interests, and areas of difficulty rather than giving every learner the same lesson! Depending on the student's needs, I can explore Cellular Biology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Physiology, Pathophysiology, Microbiology, Geology, and broader life-science concepts! I use diagrams, simplified models, biological case studies, microscope-based observations, family-trait examples, ecosystem scenarios, and interactive questioning to make complex processes easier to visualize! Younger students can explore topics such as cells, plants, animals, habitats, food chains, and the human body through engaging activities and relatable examples! High School learners can move into DNA replication, gene expression, inheritance, cellular respiration, photosynthesis, microorganisms, human physiology, biotechnology, and disease mechanisms with greater academic depth! I also help students prepare for tests by turning large chapters into manageable revision sections, creating targeted practice questions, reviewing mistakes, and tracking progress from one topic to the next! For assignments and projects, I guide students through research, organization, scientific vocabulary, presentation preparation, and accurate explanation while encouraging them to produce their own work! My aim is to make Biology feel connected to real life, from genetics and health to agriculture, ecosystems, biotechnology, and the changing world around us!
