About Emily
I have an extensive background in a variety of subjects. I received my associate degree in communication studies from Cabrillo College and recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree and the distinction of Magna cum laude from San Jose State University! I have experience tutoring students of all ages in English and writing. I worked as a Writing Consultant in the Communication Center at SJSU. During that time, I earned my Tutoring Certificate from the National Association of Communication Centers (NACC). With that being said, I am a very strong writer and editor, and I have always earned A-grades in my English and writing courses. In addition, I love to help others improve their own writing! I can't wait to work with you :)

Each student has unique and individual needs, that is why my approach is to create a space of open communication. Whatever the student is struggling with, we will work together at their pace to formulate a specialized lesson plan. My goal is for the student to feel confident going forward in their writing and academic journey so they can meet their goals.

I was one of Emily’s tutees and she is an extremely patient, kind, and helpful tutor. She was able to walk me through with the writing process as I struggle with writing papers. She also helped me a lot with looking over my outline and giving me tips and pointers on how I deliver my speeches. She is able to simplify what she is teaching and that makes it easier for others to understand.
Emily has been such a huge help to me throughout school. I knew I could count on her to help me with any High School or College essays. My grammar has improved, and I am able to notice and fix my own mistakes when I have a writing assignment.
