• 1) How long have you been interested in the field of well-being and are you practicing?

  For over seven years, I have been deeply passionate about education
  and the well-being of students. My interest initially began when I
  noticed how much of a difference personalized support can make in a
  student’s life. For example, I once worked with a student who
  struggled with time management and balancing their studies with
  extracurricular commitments. By helping them create a manageable study
  plan and offering emotional encouragement, they not only improved
  academically but also felt more in control of their schedule. In every
  session, I aim to create a supportive and engaging atmosphere that
  allows students to thrive both academically and personally.

• 2) Tell us what your discipline can bring to people's lives.

  Tutoring has the power to transform lives by not only helping students
  achieve better grades but also by building their confidence and
  problem-solving skills. For instance, I worked with a student who
  initially doubted their ability to tackle complex math problems. By
  breaking the concepts into smaller, digestible parts and relating them
  to real-life examples, they began to see math as a puzzle rather than
  a chore. The joy on their face when they finally solved problems
  independently was priceless. Moments like these remind me how
  impactful tutoring can be in shaping a student’s future.

• 3) Could you provide some instant top tips to help us feel good in body and mind?

  Start your day with a quick mindfulness exercise, such as deep
  breathing or journaling your thoughts, to set a positive tone.
  
  Take regular breaks during study sessions—I recommend the Pomodoro
  Technique, where you focus for 25 minutes and then take a 5-minute
  break.
  
  Incorporate light exercise or even a short walk to refresh your mind
  and boost your energy.
  
  Celebrate small wins. For example, if you complete a challenging math
  problem or write a great essay introduction, give yourself a treat or
  a short break to stay motivated.

• 4) How would you describe your method as a practitioner?

  My teaching method is grounded in understanding the unique needs and
  learning styles of each student. For instance, I once had a student
  who was a visual learner and struggled to grasp abstract math
  concepts. I used diagrams, flowcharts, and color-coded notes to help
  them visualize the problems, which made a huge difference in their
  understanding. I also believe in active participation; instead of
  lecturing, I engage students in discussions, ask guiding questions,
  and encourage them to think critically. This collaborative approach
  not only enhances their grasp of the subject but also builds their
  confidence in applying knowledge.

• 5) With experience, are there things you have learned or unlearned about yourself or others?

  One key lesson I’ve learned is that every student’s journey is unique,
  and what works for one may not work for another. I remember working
  with a particularly shy student who rarely spoke during our initial
  sessions. Instead of pushing them to open up, I adjusted my approach
  by introducing written exercises and gradually building a safe space
  for communication. Over time, they became more expressive and
  confident. I’ve also unlearned the idea that academic success is
  solely about grades; it’s equally about fostering curiosity and a love
  for learning.

• 6) Do you have a role model, a person who really inspired you?

  Sir Ken Robinson has been a significant influence on my teaching
  philosophy. His emphasis on creativity and the idea that education
  should be tailored to each individual resonates deeply with me. His
  work inspires me to think outside the box and approach each student as
  a unique individual with their own potential waiting to be unlocked.

• 7) How do you personally relax; what methods work for you?

  When I need to unwind, I enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it’s a
  walk in the park or simply sitting in the garden with a book. I also
  practice mindfulness, especially on busy days, by taking a few minutes
  to focus on my breathing or write down my thoughts. These small
  moments of self-care allow me to approach my work with renewed energy
  and focus.

• 8) Tell us about a memorable lesson.

  One lesson that stands out to me was with a student who was preparing
  for their GCSE exams but struggled with quadratic equations. They
  found the topic intimidating and had already convinced themselves they
  couldn’t do it. I broke the topic down into simple steps and used
  everyday analogies to make it relatable. For instance, we likened the
  graph of a quadratic equation to a smile or frown depending on the
  equation’s coefficients. By the end of the session, not only did the
  student solve equations confidently, but they also told me they had
  started to enjoy the subject. That transformation was incredibly
  rewarding and reaffirmed why I love what I do.
  
  With over 7 years of experience in education and mentoring, I have had
  the privilege of helping students from diverse backgrounds achieve
  their academic goals. Every session is an opportunity to inspire,
