Welcome! I am an educational professional with a Master's Degree in Special Education and more than ten years of experience teaching mathematics both internationally and locally. I am a proudly certified educator (PEL and LBS1) currently serving as an inclusive math and science teacher. My teaching philosophy is rooted in inclusive, individualized, and accessible education. To make math meaningful, I leverage the comprehensive Skyline curriculum to connect abstract mathematical concepts—like Algebra and Geometry—to real-world adaptation and problem-solving. To ensure long-term success, I strategically use Khan Academy to reinforce foundational skills, close learning gaps, and proactively prepare students for next year’s academic standards. Drawing on my extensive background in Special Education, I use evidence-based techniques such as visual scaffolds, graphic organizers, and the "gradual release of responsibility" model to reduce cognitive load and build independent problem-solving skills.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Every learner is different, but a typical session is highly structured to maximize focus and retention:
Warm-Up & Check-In: We begin with a quick review of prior knowledge and foundational skills using Khan Academy.
Interactive Mini-Lesson: I introduce new concepts using the Skyline curriculum, focusing on how these math skills apply to real-world scenarios.
Guided Practice: We work through problems together. I provide step-by-step frameworks (such as the RACE strategy for mathematical reasoning) and encourage students to explain their thinking aloud to shift the cognitive lift.
Independent Practice & Goal Setting: The student applies what they've learned independently while I provide immediate, targeted feedback and outline our goals for the next session.
