About Ellie

I am a Malaysian Chinese who was born in NZ and grew up in Malaysia. I went to Chinese schools since kindergarten and speak Mandarin in schools, Cantonese, and Hakka within the household. I graduated with a Food Technology degree from Massey University in 2021 and now have a full-time job in Hamilton from 7:00am-3:30pm. Teaching Chinese is more than just an extra job for me—it’s a passion. I love sharing the beauty of the language and culture with others, helping students build confidence in speaking, reading, and writing. Seeing my students progress and develop a deeper appreciation for Chinese is truly rewarding. My goal is to inspire and empower students to communicate with confidence and connect with Chinese culture on a deeper level.

About the lesson

I believe in creating a dynamic and interactive learning environment, where students feel comfortable to learn and practice Chinese at their own pace. My teaching methodology focuses on a balanced approach that integrates speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Lessons usually last an hour, but can be adjusted based on the student’s preference or availability. I am a bilingual speaker of Chinese, including Mandarin, Cantonese, and Hakka. I offer lessons for students of all ages, from beginners to advanced learners. Whether you're looking to improve your conversational skills, prepare for exams, or simply explore the language and culture, my lessons are tailored to meet your individual goals and learning style.
