About Samantha

As college student from the small island of Rota in the Northern Mariana Islands, my journey to The University of Texas at Austin represents my unwavering dedication to academic excellence. Maintaining a high GPA while studying Psychology at one of the nation's top public universities, I bring the same determination and passion to my tutoring approach.

My experience spans from leading youth programs at Foundation Communities to developing educational curricula and mentoring students. Having graduated in the top 2% of my high school class and maintained straight A's throughout my academic career, I understand what it takes to succeed while making learning enjoyable and accessible.

Working with diverse communities, from my island hometown to Austin's urban environment, has shaped my ability to connect with students from all backgrounds. I combine my academic achievements with real-world experience in youth development to create an engaging, supportive learning environment. My background in psychology also helps me understand different learning styles and adapt my teaching methods accordingly.

What truly sets me apart is my journey – from a small Pacific island to a prestigious university – which has taught me that with the right guidance and dedication, any educational goal is achievable. I bring this belief to every tutoring session, inspiring students to reach their full potential while building confidence and essential learning skills.

About the lesson

As a psychology student and experienced youth program leader, I create engaging, structured lessons that make learning feel like an adventure. Each session begins with a fun warm-up activity to spark curiosity, followed by interactive lessons using colorful materials, educational games, and hands-on activities that match each child's learning style.

My experience at Foundation Communities has taught me how to break down complex concepts into digestible pieces for young minds. I incorporate movement breaks and creative projects to maintain engagement, especially for elementary students who learn better through active participation. Drawing from my psychology background, I understand child development and adapt my teaching methods to each student's unique needs.

What sets my tutoring apart is my holistic approach – I don't just focus on academic success, but also build confidence and a genuine love for learning. Thanks to my experience developing comprehensive lesson plans and leading youth programs, I create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking on new challenges.
