About Chris
I earned my BA in literature from Yale and PhD in English from the University of Rochester. I have taught and tutored writing and literature on the high school, community college, and four year college levels for over 25 years. I have also taught and tutored history, application essays, and test prep.

I use a Socratic method in tutoring and teaching. I ask questions to help students discover what they think and express their ideas clearly in writing. I assume students bring competencies to tutoring and my job is to help them identify and build on these skills.
