  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I honestly feel like I was born into music. From as early as I can remember, I was surrounded by singing, especially in choir settings. Growing up in that environment, singing quickly became a natural part of my life. Over time, what started as a joyful part of childhood turned into a professional hobby, and later into something I studied deeply at university. The passion has always been there. I love not just doing music, but also understanding how it works.

As for my favourite instrument, it’s hard to choose just one. I work closely with the voice, violin, and guitar, and each one holds a special place in my heart. They’re all emotional instruments, capable of expressing deep feelings—and I feel a strong connection to them all in different ways.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Yes, Terriann Basswood. Her music is beautifully arranged, deeply inspirational and timeless. I love how her songs carry powerful messages that really make you pause and think about life and your choices. Her style is classic, yet full of depth and influence. I could easily listen to her on repeat without ever getting tired each time, I find something new to reflect on.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music

One of the most meaningful and challenging things I try to teach is helping students discover and stay true to their own sound. It’s very easy for students to start copying their teacher or even the artists they admire, but I believe real growth happens when they find their own musical identity. I want my students to feel confident and comfortable in their own tone, their own texture, and their own way of expressing music—not feeling like they have to sound like everyone else. That uniqueness is their beauty, and I do my best to guide them into that space where they truly love how they sound and feel proud of their individuality.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I believe every instrument has its own level of complexity, and it really depends on the individual. There isn’t one instrument that is the most complicated for everyone, and none that are truly “simple” either. What makes an instrument feel difficult or easier to master often comes down to your passion for it, the time and energy you’re willing to invest, and the resources you have to learn. The more connected you are to an instrument, the more motivated you are to overcome its challenges—so in the end, it’s all relative.
  • What are your keys to success?

My key to success is simple: believe. I truly believe that nothing is impossible for the one who believes. When you hold on to that mindset, it gives you the courage to try, to grow, and to keep going.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Well, I’m not sure I’d meet them in a bar—LOL—but if I had the chance to meet a few dream artists, it would definitely be Terrian, Annie Moses (and her band), and Cheryl Porter.

Terrain is an all-time classic to me—her music is rich, inspiring, and timeless. Annie Moses is not only a beautiful singer but also a skilled violinist, and her whole family band is just incredible. Their blend of violin, voice, and guitar is something I really admire—it’s emotional, technical, and beautifully arranged.

And Cheryl Porter—what a gift! She’s not only an amazing opera singer and vocal coach across different styles, but she brings such joy and life. She teaches with passion, kindness, and fun. Meeting her would be such an uplifting experience.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in music is that quality is better than quantity. I remember during my time in school, we were practicing a challenging repertoire, and one of our professors made a comment that really stuck with me. He said, “It’s better to practice 15 minutes daily than to cram in 100 hours at once.” It sounded funny at first, but the more I applied it, the more I saw how true it was.

That moment shaped how I approach not only music but other areas of life as well. It taught me that consistency builds results, while rushed, intense effort even if it’s long doesn’t always bring the same outcome. I now encourage my students and myself to focus on small, steady progress rather than trying to do too much all at once. That kind of discipline brings lasting growth.
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I believe everyone learns differently, so I try to meet each student where they are. Some learn best by ear, others through theory, and some through movement or feeling. I take time to understand their goals, how they learn best, and what inspires them. From there, I shape each lesson in a way that feels natural, engaging, and suited to them.

I also draw from my own struggles with music learning—what worked, what didn’t—and I use that to create a space where students feel supported as they grow. I'm always learning too, and that helps me stay flexible, creative, and open in my teaching.
