About Julie
I have years of experience providing English tutoring to diverse populations and a range of ages. As a full-time clinical social worker, my training and experience working with different individuals truly helps when I work one-on-one with students. I am able to approach each student as unique and develop strategies that will help empower and strengthen the students' skills. I have worked with students with a range of processing and learning delays and am always willing to find ways to make learning more accessible and fun.

I offer individualized tutoring in English, spelling, essay writing, and resume preparation for all ages—from elementary students building foundational skills to high school and college students working on academic writing, to adults preparing for professional success. My sessions are interactive, collaborative, and tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. I use a strengths-based approach to build confidence and engagement, and I use some of the following strategies to help in our sessions: - Breaking projects or concepts down into small steps - Guided practice - Visual aids - Modeling and discussion - Real world applications A typical lesson plan will depend on your goals but will include these main components: - Check in - Review of last time and/or set goals for today - Brief lesson - Practice and collaboration - Answering any leftover questions - Next steps
