About Michaela

Hello, I’m Michaela! I can help you get the IELTS band you need to move on with your English Life! I am an English Language teacher with a TESOL certificate and years of experience. I also have certificates in Advanced Grammar and Test Preparation. I care deeply about my students and love seeing them succeed!

About the lesson

I see many students who put in A LOT of time and work VERY hard.
But still, their scores don’t change very much.
What’s going on?

One big problem is that the IELTS results don’t give much information about where students are losing marks. Without this essential information, it’s very hard for them to study the things that will MAXIMIZE their score.

The most effective way to increase your score is to have a coach (Me!) who understands the IELTS exam and can analyze your strengths and weaknesses.

In my lessons...
1) I always do a Score Analysis before lessons start to see where you are with Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
2) I focus the most energy on things that will have the biggest impact on improving your score.
3) I use the official IELTS score criteria as a guide when we work on Speaking and Writing.
4) We will use Zoom to host our lessons!
5) I will give you personalized homework.
6) I will give you detailed homework feedback so that you understand where your mistakes are and what you need to practice.

You may ask: "What makes me a good fit for your lessons?"
1) You have about 8-10 hours to study per week → 3 lesson hours and about 5-7 homework hours. Studying for the IELTS is a big commitment!
2) The lessons are online, so you need to have a reliable computer and a strong, stable internet connection. Unfortunately the lessons can not be done through a mobile phone.
3) You are able to access Zoom, Dropbox and Google Docs. If you don’t know how to use these yet, that’s okay! I can help you.
4) You have, or are able to purchase this textbook: THE OFFICIAL CAMBRIDGE GUIDE TO IELTS FOR ACADEMIC AND GENERAL TRAINING. I use this book because having authentic practice questions is ESSENTIAL and there are only a few free Cambridge practice materials online! It is about $80 and it is a useful resource with 8 practice tests.
