About Molly

My service stands out because I'm a young New Zealander!

Not only am I professionally trained, having completed my ATCL Teaching Diploma in Speech and Drama in 2015, but I've consistently worked as an actor for over 10 years. In New Zealand, I've shot over 75 episodes of television, ranging across 8 series. Most notably in the US, I've featured in Power Rangers and Netflix' 'Roman Empire'. The combination of hands-on experience from acting on set, as well as classical training gives me an edge above the others. I've got over 2 years of teaching experience, and would love to put it to work!

I love meeting new people and helping them learn! I have huge satisfaction in seeing people grow their skills and confidence, and it makes it all worthwhile when I see great results. Meeting such interesting, new people is the best part.

Within a few months of finishing my teaching diploma with Distinction in Speech & Drama, I was working as an itinerant Speech teacher at the private girl's school, Chilton Saint James in Wellington New Zealand. I stayed there teaching during the full school year for 2 years and gained invaluable skills whilst on the job. It is a very prestigious girls school, which helped me adapt and learn the tips and tricks of working in a fast-paced environment. I loved working with the girls of all ages, and discovering my passion for teaching.

I have a Speech & Drama ATCL Teaching Diploma from Trinity College, London. I spent 10 years studying and training in Speech & Drama and completed my diploma in 2015.

I worked at the private girl's school, Chilton Saint James, in Wellington, New Zealand, for 2 years, teaching over 30 students ranging from 5-15 years old. This teaching experience enhanced my training and teaching qualification hugely, as I was able to gain hands-on experience, and put my training into practise.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, it's incredibly important to establish a relax and calm environment, so they can be open and honest with how they're feeling and responding to the work. Especially with children, starting with theatre games, tongue twister exercises, or working together to find suitable poems to work on is essential. This builds confidence and a rapport between the teacher and the student. I want my class to be a fun, easy-going and exciting experience.

I've worked with a range of different students, with many different learning disabilities. My most challenging was a very shy, partially deaf 5-year-old, but I have also worked with autistic children and very sassy early teens! I welcome all students from all backgrounds, and love challenging myself to work closer.

I would make sure the teacher is experienced both in teaching and in the profession. I would also encourage having an initial class with them to make sure you understand and can relate to the teacher. Learning Speech & Drama requires focus and motivation. It helps with public speaking, general etiquette and poetry, prose and drama skills, so having a teacher that demonstrates all of these skills in their daily life is important!

My most challenging was a very shy, partially deaf 5-year-old, who's parents came to me for help on her public speaking and confidence. It was hugely rewarding to see such a massive boost on her confidence, and by the end of the first term, she was seamlessly performing a poem in front of her whole class.

The students must think about what they want to achieve from these lessons! It is important students go into the class with a clear goal, and focus for the lessons ahead.

I have a minimum of $50 an hour for teaching, but it will increase depending on what is required, the age of the student and location. Group lessons also differ.
