About Anjali

I am really interested in working with children, because I love learning from them while they learn from me. I am passionate about tutoring because it's very rewarding, as I hope to make a positive impact on young students. In addition, I think it's very important for young students to develop time management and organizing skills, as it will serve as a large benefit throughout their middle school and highschool years. As a 17 year old, I have encountered setbacks as a student, but through organization and improving study habits, I was able to improve not only my academics, but my self esteem, which I hope to do with young students! I have tutored two girls in elementary school and middle school in subjects including math and english, and I developed a deep interest for working alongside young students! I would love to tutor children in grades 5-8!

Furthermore, I am really interested in teaching violin lessons to young children, ages 5-12! I started playing the violin when I was 5 years old, and have continued to play ever since. I am involved in private lessons, the New Trier Symphony Orchestra, and the Concert Orchestra at the Midwest Young Artist Conservatory in Highland Park. I am extremely passionate about playing the violin, and I would love to share my passion for music with young musicians!

I really enjoy working with students who are passionate about what they are learning! For musical students, I really enjoy when students are having fun while learning, because it shows us that they are willing to try new things. I also like to see students try again, even after failing the first time, because it shows determination!

I started teaching when my neighbor reached out to me, for tutoring for her two children in grades 3 and 5. I was really excited to work alongside hard working students!

I am a rising senior at New Trier Township High School, and so far I have taken English and Math classes including: English 1, English 2, English 3, Plane Geometry, Algebra 2, and Precalculus.

At New Trier, I have taken music classes including: Freshman Orchestra, Freshman chamber, and Symphony Orchestra. I have also been involved with Midwest Young Artist Organization since 6th grade, and have taken classes including: Concertino Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, and Music Theory.

When working with a new student, I typically like to get to know them first before we talk about any topics they are finding difficult to understand, so that I can get an idea of how they approach difficult problems and their methods. Then, I like to give the student a few practice problems to see what areas they understand, and what areas they don't understand. From there, the student and I can find practice in the topics they are struggling with!

For a student that's a musician, I first like to ask them what piece they are currently working on, and I like to have the student play the piece they are working on. This way, we can work together to look for struggle areas. In addition, I like to play scales with students as they are the foundation of learning pieces!

I have worked with students in grades 3 and 5 regarding English and Math. For music, I have worked with a 11 year old student who played the violin.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before talking to teachers about their needs, it's important for students to know what specific areas they struggle in, so when we work together, we can target those areas in order to be efficient with our time!
