Anne is a dedicated and intelligent violinist. It’s clear that she not only loves studying the violin itself, but is also passionate about teaching. She is patient, empathetic, but also incredibly sharp in diagnosing problems in technique and developing her students’ sound. I would recommend a session with her to anyone interested in the violin regardless of age or experience. A good soul and incredible musician!

Annie is a phenomenal teacher! As a parent, I was so impressed at her interpersonal skills; she invested in understanding my son's personality and found just the right way to teach, encourage, and motivate him. When he was struggling with a certain aspect of playing, she also was so skilled at figuring out why something wasn't working and getting to the root of the problem. Annie also cares deeply about good teaching, and she finds creative and fun activities to aid learning. For example, at various points in his development, my son played while standing on a chair, flipped his bow upside down, and created stories to accompany his songs--and these activities enhanced his technique and musicality in addition to keeping him engaged. There were times when my son didn't like playing violin (as learning an instrument is hard), but he always loved getting to work with Annie!

My daughter, Laney, was three when began lessons with Anne. She fell in love with the violin watching a quartet play and 7 years later has never looked back. My husband and I aren’t musically inclined, and I thought a 3 year old in music lessons?!?! But then I realized if it was gymnastics I’d sign her up, so I asked around and was incredibly lucky to be referred to Anne Schneller. A 3-year-old has a short attention span and lots of energy. Anne, was patient, adaptable, and kind. My request as a parent was that we move at Laney’s speed and have violin be a part of Laney’s life, not all of Laney’s life. Anne did just that. She gave manageable homework and challenged Laney appropriately as she grew. When Laney was spinning (quite literally) during practice Anne would channel that energy. Anne had games, prizes, and tricks up her sleeve to engage Laney in the art of learning an instrument. Anne worked with Laney for 3 and a half years and the tears shed when she left were immense—6 months later Laney’s one request to Santa was that he bring Anne to our house. My appreciation for Anne’s style of teaching to engage my daughter and develop her passion for violin is immense. I do not believe we could have had a better experience and I know had Anne stayed near by Laney would have continued to cultivate her love for the instrument under Anne’s leadership and guidance.
