About Zoe
With 20 years of performance experience and 10 years of teaching experience, I strive to share my love for music with all of my students. I have worked as a professional violinist in New York City, and have performed at esteemed venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center. In addition to my classical experience, I have spent the last two years touring the country with the critically acclaimed Broadway show Miss Saigon. As a teacher, I have worked with students of all ages and abilities, and have recently served as an adjunct violin faculty member at New York University. I believe in encouraging all of my students to reach their individual goals, and my lessons are always fun and rewarding!
I have two degrees in violin performance from Rice University and New York University. While I was a graduate student at NYU, I also served as an adjunt faculty member and taught 10 undergraduate violin students each semester. Additionally, I have obtained specific teacher training through NYU's string pedagogy program and have obtained Suzuki Book 1 certification.

I have been lucky enough to have worked with a variety of students! I have experience teaching beginner level students, and I am comfortable working with them on basic violin technique as well as reading music. I also have taught advanced violinists with multiple years of experience. With these students, I often work with them on more difficult repertoire, and help them prepare for any auditions or recitals they might have in the future.
When it comes to a violin teacher, I recommend that students hire someone who is fully invested in their success. The best teachers are those who understand the unique strengths and challenges of each student, and patiently work with them each week to help them achieve their individual goals. Additionally, I think it is critical for a teacher to constantly encourage and motivate their students. Developing a new skill can be tough at times, but learning music should be a fun and rewarding experience!
For the last two years, I toured the country with the Miss Saigon National Broadway Tour. With this show, I performed in over 40 different cities and played in theaters like the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. While I loved all of the cities we traveled to, my favorite was Los Angeles where we performed at the famous Pantages Theater in Hollywood.

I think that students should first think about their goals for violin lessons, as well as the time they can commit to practice. This answer is different for everyone, and I will work within your scheduling parameters to help you achieve your particular goals.

Zoe was an incredibly patient violin teacher for my 11 year old son. She was able to motivate him to practice (finally!!!!) and she helped him learn to read music so that he could play with his elementary school orchestra.
I had so much fun learning violin with Zoe. She was always considerate of my other coursework and was flexible when it came to scheduling. Thank you, I'll miss our lessons together!
