About Monica
I am a seasoned violin teacher accepting new students this fall! I am passionate about extending my love of music and teach to all ages and levels.
A little about me: I hold a master's degree in violin performance, and am extremely passionate about teaching and my students' personal musical growth. As well as traditional instruction, I am a Suzuki Teacher, certified through the SAA, and in the past developed and headed Suzuki programs within my previous music school positions in NY, and maintain strong and long-lasting relationships with families. I've held adjudicating responsibilities in national Canadian music festivals, and my own students have won youth symphony auditions and placed top ranking in area music festivals.
My teaching philosophy: Learning music is fun at the same time being focused and disciplined. I am mindful that we are all different and unique beings in the way that we each learn and grow at different rates and speeds; my teaching philosophy is such that I consistently aspire to teach from a place that is in alignment with the qualities of each one's own abilities.
I enjoy working from the beginning levels into advanced concerto repertoire and am interested in teaching all types of students: Traditional/Suzuki (all levels), public/private school orchestra students needing extra help or simply to extend learning, aiding in practicing/preparing for solo/orchestra auditions, or the beginning adult looking to find the joy of music on the violin.
