About Samantha

Hi, I am a swim teacher who spends her time lifeguarding and teaching children about water saftey and how to swim. I love seeing children learn to enjoy the water as they develop swimming skills.

I have taught swimming lessons for a little under 2 years now to children of all ages. I focus on more of the basics of swimming, teaching children the techniques of floating, proper breathing, kicking, and arm movements for freestyle and backstroke. Currently, I have been working with younger children as I help them get comfortable with the water.

A little background information about me is that I am currently a college student, and have Red Cross certification for teaching swim lessons. I have been around kids and the water my whole life, from teaching my younger siblings or cousins to swim, to personally joining a swim team.

I am very passionate about educating and teaching children how to enjoy the water safley while they learn how to swim. I hope that your child also learns the thrill of swimming, whether through me, or through someones elses hand!

I started teaching as a lifeguard doing lessons through the city of Rio Rancho, but then branched out to do my own private lessons as well.

I have taught swim lessons for a little less that 2 years, but other than that I am a lifeguard and was on the swim team for 3 years. I am certified for teaching through the Red Cross, and have interacted with children all my life.

About the lesson

The first lesson I do with a new student is to first evaluate where the student is already with his/her skills in the water. I look at the comfortability in the water, and then set up different drills to find what I need to work on with them. Once I find what skills need to be worked on I begin to test their ability to adjust to my suggestions. The first lesson is mostly testing and trying to make the most adjustments I can to make them the most comfortable in the water.

I have worked with children of all ages, at many different skill levels. I have worked with a few special needs children, but it all depends on the child and his/her excitment to learn.

Details

I charge $15 dollars for a half hour, and $25 for a hour. I will pay for the child to enter the pool, but not the parent/guardian (I normally teach at the Rio Rancho Aquatic Center which has a fee of just a couple bucks for people watching on the side).
