About Scott

Scott Edwards is a data science leader with over 25 years of experience in data analysis, predictive analytics, and business intelligence, including using SQL for almost 20 years. He has lead data analytics/data science teams at Symantec, NBCUniversal, & AT&T. He especially enjoys sharing his passion for SQL with individuals and groups, having taught it for the last 10 years in a variety of contexts. I taught community college first, worked with some folks in several jobs I've had doing SQL, and then moved into individual tutoring formally in the last few years.

I've worked with databases in SQL for almost 20 years in a professional capacity. I've used it on almost a daily basis to do some very complex analyses (at time needing to write SQL queries of hundreds of lines!).

About the lesson

I start with an initial call to find out how much experience the student has with SQL, and any areas that they have struggled with in the past.

I then use this information to form an initial learning plan outline. I present that to the student in our second session and ask them for feedback.

Once we agree on a learning plan, we schedule our first actual learning lesson!

professionals and school students of a variety of ages and backgrounds -- I pride myself on working well with anyone!

Make sure you ask them about their background in SQL - it is a subject that has evolved greatly over the last few decades, so make sure the teacher is up to date!

Spending the day with my wife and our dogs and cats at home on the weekend.
