About Gina
I am a professional private tutor with 10 years teaching experience in humanities subjects. I specialize in English language, English literature and creative writing, but am able to offer other subjects so please enquire. Prior to lockdown I offered individual and group lessons in person, based in Essex, UK. I am currently available for online lessons.
I have experience of successfully supporting students who have struggled working in group environments, both in schools and online, during lockdown.
I am a patient, creative and conscientious tutor, with an enthusiasm for supporting students in developing their full potential.
After initially volunteering as a reading mentor, I quickly realized my passion for helping children to achieve academic success. As well as one-to-one tutoring, I went on to teach a number of literacy, drama and creative writing workshops within primary schools.
I am a very friendly tutor with experience in finding a way forward for anxious learners, as well as those who lack confidence in literacy. I have also worked with higher-ability students in need of a greater challenge. I work with both children and adults and am an experienced GCSE tutor.

I believe that a love of reading can act as a gateway of discovery for young people, nurturing their imaginative and naturally curious minds, towards both analytical thinking and creativity.
I treat all my students as individuals, recognizing that I need to be adaptable to their learning styles and interests. I find this is an effective approach, sparking a passion for learning and developing enthusiastic students, with the skills they need for educational success.
When faced with a challenge, I am always willing to research and learn, seeking new ways to support my students. Supporting students in developing the skills (and an eager, enquiring mind-set) necessary for life-long learning, is one of my key objectives.
I nurture children to become confident students, curious about the world and equipped with skills for independent study. I encourage my students to remember that learning and growing as a person is a life-long journey, and that we all make progress at different rates. Mistakes and struggles are learning opportunities!
Neurodiversity and well-being:
I have experience of supporting dyslexic students and working with young people experiencing anxiety. I incorporate relaxation and study focus exercises into lessons where needed and support students to understand their own learning style and coping strategies.

Session length and fee rate may vary according to the age and concentration levels of the student. Please enquire. GCSE lessons are generally 55mins in length.
