About Micayla
I'm a licensed Social Studies teacher who speaks fluent Spanish and teaches in a local immersion program. I specialize in these two areas and can also help with ACT test prep and writing. I have a M.Ed degree in instructional design as well.
Working with students one on one is my favorite part of my job as a teacher. I'm able to get to know them-their interests, strengths, and needs-and am able to personalize instruction to help them grow.
I'm a licensed teacher (5-12 social studies). I've taught for 4 years. I've also volunteered as a tutor and mentored students academically. I've also volunteered with organizations such as Younglife and Treehouse doing general mentoring for teens. Holistic youth development is my passion!

First I need to get to know this student at a basic level. What are their hobbies? What motivates them? What do they struggle with? What are their strengths? So I ask initial get to know you questions and also let the student get to know me and my background. Then determining what their goals are so we can work towards them together.
