About Sonja

Hola! My name is Sonja, and I have been speaking Spanish fluently for the past 10 years and have been involved in volunteer teaching work for more than 15 years.

I am not a native Spanish speaker, but I feel that this gives me an advantage when helping new language learners. I understand the common struggles English speakers experience when learning Spanish. I have experienced them and can help you overcome them.

I am working on getting certified through the National Tutoring Association, but in the meantime, I would love the experience of helping people of all ages to learn or improve their Spanish. I am a very patient and empathetic teacher, and I think learning a new language should be fun.

I have experience teaching children as young as 3 years old, as well as adults in their 50's. While different ages have different struggles or advantages while learning a language, I think that it is possible to successfully learn a new language at any age.

Communication is the key to connection. It is such a joy to be able to connect with people who speak a different language than you do. It allows us to learn about and appreciate different cultures, while also helping us to see how similar we all are.

I would love to help you learn or improve your Spanish if you are: a homeschool student, taking middle school or high school Spanish, going on vacation to a Spanish speaking country, are a second or third generation Spanish speaker and want to communicate better with your family members, or you want to use Spanish in your job.

I look forward to working with you and giving you the personalized Spanish tutoring, you need. Gracias!
