About Beth
Ninety percent of my classes and / or tutoring techniques come from authentic material I have gathered from my travel experiences and encounters with native Spanish Speakers. I have spent a total of about 2 years in Spanish speaking countries since 2014.
(Spain-11 months, Mexico-4 months, Peru-2 weeks, Costa Rica-3 weeks, Colombia - 2 months, Panama - 1 month, Peru 1.5 months, Ecuador - 1 month, Cuba - 1 month)
With 14 years of practicing Spanish, having graduated from college with a B.A. in Spanish and a B.S. in Adolescent Education, having traveled to and lived in several Spanish Speaking countries and having many years of teaching under my belt, I have developed a wide range of vocabulary and teaching techniques.
I was awarded a medal through SUNY Oswego as a “Distinguished International Scholar” for my dedication to thoroughly learning the Spanish language and culture, as well as passing on my knowledge to others through presentations and volunteer trips. I was also inducted into the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society.
As my love for this career grew, I found other modes of bettering myself as a teacher and a language learner. I became the LECNY (Language Educators of Central New York) Intern during my second last semester in college as well as became the co-founder & organizer of the “English Teacher Volunteer Program” in Juarez, Mexico.
Learning another language has given me the opportunity to understand a different way of life and appreciate differences around the world. I hope to elicit the same joy in my students.
My favorite part about teaching is that every students brings something unique to the classroom. Each student learns in a specific way and has a differnt liking to various techniques.
With one on one tutoring, I can meet the student where they are at and give them indivisualized attention to help them succeed.
