About Jennifer

I am very passionate about music and love to bring that joy into the lives of my students. I listen intently to the needs and goals of my students. Every person and therefore every voice is different and needs to be handled as the unique little gem that it is.

I seem to have always fallen into teaching roles, even as a young person. I have been teaching dance, drama and choreographing shows for over 25 years! I started teaching voice at a small performing arts school as a substitute teacher. I would ususally do this in between jobs performing. As time went by, I started getting requested as a teacher and took on a few days permenantly which led to me branching out and opening my home studio.

I have a BFA from the Boston Conservatory of Music in Musical Theatre. I studied classical voice with world renowned, Helen Boatwright. I also studied jazz voice with Diana Spradling at Syracuse University. I am also a proud member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing. I have recently completed Level I and II of Somatic Voicework, The Lovetrie Method.

About the lesson

When working with a new student my ultimate goal is to make them feel comfortable and not judged. We chat a little bit about their experiences and goals. I start by explaining some very basic anatomy related to the voice as well as touch upon posture, alignment, breathing. I like to have a new student sing a song or even a piece of one for me. This is a great way to identify things they are doing well as well as habits that could be holding them back

The experience and age range of my students is pretty tremendous. I have many adult students, some beginner and some with record deals. I also have quite a few singer/songwriter students, high school age through young adult, junior high and even little ones in elemnetary school.

Trust your instincts. You should feel comfortable expressing your needs, afterall it is your lesson!

We just had a zoom coffeehouse. It actually was super fun and the bonus was that family members all over the world could tune in. Trying to adapt to these new norms and keep the music going!

If you pay one lesson at a time I charge $35.00 for a 30 minute session and $65.00 for a 60 minute session.

Discounts are available if you buy a block of 4 lessons or more.
