I started teaching after completing the U.S. Army Designated Marksman Course. At that point — after 10 years in the Army and two combat deployments in the Infantry — I realized how little I actually knew about precision shooting until I passed that course. It lit a fire in me. From then on, I made it my mission to teach others what real marksmanship demands.

The hard truth is this: most Soldiers, police officers, and civilian shooters aren’t very skilled — not because they’re lazy, but because true marksmanship takes intention, commitment, focused effort, consistency, and time.

There are millions of people pulling triggers… but only a few thousand who’ve put in the work to become real shooters. My job is to help serious people make that leap — from casual to capable.

My Training Process

I use a proven progression: Explain → Demonstrate → Imitate → Perform.

Every lesson starts and ends with safety — no exceptions.

Once a student consistently demonstrates safe weapons handling, we conduct an initial assessment. From there, I build a personalized training plan based on your current skill level and goals.

Training includes a mix of:

Discussion and mindset work

Dry drills to build mechanics

Simulators to develop confidence

Live fire and timed live fire to sharpen precision and performance

Physical exertion may be offered as part of training. If so, you’ll train under pressure — because real performance happens under stress. Come prepared to move, think, and sweat.

All assistant instructors I work with are current or former military champions. Over the years, my shooters have outperformed elite teams — including FORSCOM, USASOC SFAUC instructors, and MARSOC cadre — most recently in 2021.

I’ve worked with students from all walks of life — from teenagers to seniors, men and women, native English speakers and those for whom English is a second language. My clients have included everyone from first-time shooters to highly experienced professionals, as well as individuals with cognitive or physical challenges. Whether tall, short, lean, heavyset, athletic, or academic — I focus on meeting each person where they are and helping them grow with clarity, safety, and confidence.

When hiring a firearms instructor, don’t just look at marketing — look at substance. Here’s what I advise:

Start with credibility. Ask for references and certifications. A serious instructor should have verifiable credentials.

Clarify your goal. Make sure your desired outcome matches the instructor’s focus — whether it's self-defense, concealed carry, competition, or general proficiency. If your goals don’t align, neither will your results.

Vet their safety standards. Ask about emergency medical training, safety protocols, and how they assess and mitigate risk. This isn’t optional — it’s the foundation of professional instruction.

Find out who they train. Ask about student vetting policies. A professional instructor should have clear criteria to ensure every student is safe and serious.

Know the environment. Ask about range rules, safety procedures, and whether the facilities meet the standards for your intended training.

Bottom line: A good instructor imparts actionable skill — they build competence, safety, and mindset. Choose someone who treats your time and safety with the seriousness it deserves.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Before we talk, I’d like you to get clear on four things— so that you’ll save time, money, and get better results:

1. Mission & Goals Why do you want training? Self-defense, concealed carry, competition, duty-weapon proficiency, or just recreation?

2. Time & Budget What time and money can you realistically invest in instruction, ammo, range fees, and quality gear?

- Consistent practice beats sporadic “blow-out” sessions.

3. Commitment to Practice - Skill is perishable. Are you ready to schedule at least one live-fire or structured dry-fire session per week and periodic benchmark tests? The investment of time is what segments recreational shooters from professionals.

4. Equipment Strategy

- Rifle vs. pistol: The rifle will always out-perform a handgun in lethality and ease of learning.

- Pistol choice: Reliability is job number 1. Stick with proven service pistols. My choice is the Sig Sauer M17 or M18 (current US-military issue) for its thumb safety, reliability, and abundant parts. Modern service pistols without a thumb safety increase your risk of an unintended shot – in any brand.

- Avoid boutique brands and sub-compacts until your fundamentals are solid—“cheaper” or smaller almost always means a steeper learning curve requiring additional skill development. You can choose smaller and more comfortable, if you're going to spend the time and money to develop the skill to operate it will. There are always trade-offs.

- Holsters: Tenicor brand for concealed carry; Safariland for duty or competition. Reliability first—comfort and cost are secondary.

Come to our first conversation with these answers in mind sand we’ll hit the ground running, safely and efficiently.

Base rate is $500 per student, per class day of live fire training. The base training rate is $500 for six hours of live fire training. You're hiring a professional, institutionally trained and certified instructor with over a decade of experience producing national champions.

There is instruction out there priced less than half my base rate. Good on them.

My customer receives individual attention and answers and solutions unique to their specific circumstances.

I'm not in a hurry to "get you out of here." You're paying for the manifestation of skill in you. Building skill takes explanation, question & answer, demonstration, practice, correction, imitation and finally performance. The pace of skill development is determined by the customer. Not me.

$500 buys you six hours of skill development.

Pistol rental is $59 per day & includes holster, magazine pouch, magazines.

For any single day of live fire range training, the ammunition requirement is 400 cartridges per day. I can supply ammo at market value, or you can bring your own factory produced ammo. I do not allow hand loaded ammunition. Any ammo you bring to training must be reputable factory production ammo.
