About Matthew

Hi I'm Matthew! I graduated from Washington and Lee University in 2018 with a major in neuroscience and a minor in classics. Now, I'm a PhD student in the Neuroscience program at Emory University. I have extensive experience in biology, genetics, data science, and chemistry, both in the classroom and in the lab. Having both classroom and practical experience has given me a unique perspective on these subjects. I hope to share this perspective with you and help you find value in what you're learning. In college, I had some professors who managed to make even the driest subjects interesting and I strive to do the same. With the right mindset and instructor, learning anything can be exciting.

I tutored chemistry, biology, and English throughout high school. I was a teaching assistant for multiple lab-based science courses in college and tutored underclassmen in genetics and neuroscience. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and love of science. I think that it's important to find interest in what you're learning and I hope to be able to make it exciting for you.

I am highly experienced in neuroscience, general biology, genetics, and data science. Undergraduate and graduate-level courses, as well as practical experience through my research have allowed me to gain expertise in these areas. I would love the opportunity to share my expertise with you to help you succeed in (and enjoy) your courses.

I received a BS in Neuroscience from Washington and Lee University in 2018 and am currently pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience at Emory University. The combination of classroom and practical experience through my research has given me a unique perspective and ability to teach science. I also have lots of experience preparing for and taking the SAT and GRE that I'm happy to share with you.

About the lesson

My main goal is helping you achieve your goals! I want to figure out what it is you want to accomplish - whether that is scoring higher on a standardized test, being more confident academically, or just getting better grades. Each of those goals requires a different approach and I want to work with you to figure out how best to help you.
