About Erica

I believe in lifelong learning. I am a graduate from the University of Iowa and currently an ESL teacher at Perry High School. I have worked as a teacher and tutor for three years now. As a certified elementary school teacher for grades K-6, I feel confident in my abilities to help learners of all ages and skill sets! I also am certified with specializations in math and reading, both for grades K-8, and English as a Second Language for grades K-12. I am excited to work with you and your student and hope to meet you soon!

I enjoy seeing students grow and learn. Knowing that I have had a positive impact on my students at the end of the day is what is most important to me about my job. In my classroom sit tomorrow's doctors, scientists, and leaders. I need to work with these students to the best of my abilities now to create a lasting impact for our future. By emphasizing positive relationships with all of my students, I aim to encourage student's personal and academic growth.

I've known from a young age that I have always wanted to be a teacher! I originally wanted to be a math teacher, but my passions led me to ESL. I also grew up being a full-time nanny during the summers. Working with children has always been a passion of mine.

I graduated from the College of Education at the University of Education to be an elementary and ESL teacher. My passion is working with students of all ages, especially those learning a new language! I have experience teaching ESL, but also tutoring elementary and middle school math and reading. I also have experience tutoring a middle school student with Autism in math, reading, and writing. I am a well rounded teacher and love seeing student grow!

About the lesson

When starting with a new student, it is so important to get to know who they are as a person and student! I want to know their likes and dislikes in and out of the classroom. This way, I can cultivate lessons that will engage and bring forth their best learning potential.

I have experience with students in all grades K-12. I primarily work with ESL students in my full-time job currently but have also worked with general education students and students with learning disabilities in the past.

With the experience and certifications that I have, my online pricing begins at $40/hour. I am open to working with students multiple days a week and in more than one subject area if needed.
