About Melissa
I have been trained under many, many different reading philosophies over my 15 years of teaching. I merge the best of all of those programs that I have seen succes in, to adjust my instruction to best meet the needs of each child.
I love teaching Reading! Reading is the gateway to any skill. You can teach yourself anything in a book and you can travel the entire world and beyond in a book. I am fascinated by the rules and phonics of the English language and love teaching students "word attack" skills where they can approach an unfamiliar word with confidence, using the rules of the English language.
